Ingredients

  • shredded phyllo dough - 17.6 oz (500 g) in rolls
  • butter - 1/2 cup (125 g) fresh
  • water - 6 cups (1.2 liters)
  • walnuts - chopped 4.3 oz (120 g) coarse
  • for the syrup
  • water - 6 cups (1.2 liters)
  • sugar - 3 1/3 cups (800 g)

Preparation of Turkish Kadaif

Arrange the shredded sweet dough in a baking dish, each roll gets a few walnut kernels. Bake until golden, then pour in the previously prepared syrup of sugar and water, to which you add butter.

It’s an extremely tasty and a favorite of my family.

Optionally, you can add crushed pistachios instead of walnuts or a mix of both types of nuts.
